Activities
The assistant manager's role is to support a senior manager or executive by handling administrative tasks, accounting management, appointment scheduling, timetable preparation and many other duties.
By nature, the assistant manager is versatile. As a secretary, accountant and legal adviser, they can deal with all the company's events and, most of the time, find appropriate solutions independently. They do not need to ask their manager's opinion constantly, as the manager specifically wants to be freed from basic decisions.
The smaller the organisation, the more varied the duties entrusted to the assistant manager will be. They may receive client calls, manage some clients from start to finish, contact suppliers, keep stock records up to date, prepare accounting documents, handle employee payroll, arrange sales representatives' travel, and define the legal conditions of an ongoing project. Their main activities include:
- Face-to-face and telephone reception of visitors
- Writing, typing and formatting documents (letters, reports, minutes)
- Incoming and outgoing mail management
- Classification and archiving of administrative records
